Fridgely App Reviews

Good start, does what is says!

This app, as is, is worth the try. Two stars missing for three important functions still missing: - reading a barcode to identify the product (and maybe read the date itself, but its much more difficult) - localization-- in the IT meaning, i.e. translation in many languages. Id be glad to help for German and French languages btw - why OS9? all of this can be done in OS7 or OS8. Please recompile it with these OSs allowed, youll gain users satisfied!. A really cool feature present is the recipe from the items you gotta eat! Thanks!

Great idea, perfect implementation

Title says everything but I think I should tell more. The app isnt just a way to do it, its THE way to do it. The interface is welk chosen for iOS, the app is simple and works reliable. A Mac client to notify me on my computer could be great, but since I use my iPhone every single day theres no really need for. A feature I really looking for is to share my fridge list with other users. For families and living communities this could be a new milestone of organisation.

Very nice app!

The app has a very nice and straightforward design. Theres really nothing else to say other than: Thumbs up to the developer!

Decent app, but only for one device

I like that it is very straight forward and not overcrowded with additional options. The only thing missing is the ability to sync across devices. With that I would have given it a five star review

Nice app

only minor improvements needed, otherwise works as they say...

A ok!

Does the job fairly well

A real timesaver

I am glad that I am able to track my expiration dates without resorting to clumsier methods. This app takes out a lot of the work when maintaining the product quality in my home.

Fantastic!

Ive been searching for a grocery inventory/expiration app for quite a while. And now I have one that also provides recipes for the ingredients I have on hand. Im so happy to have found this! The only change I would make would be to allow a quantity field for the items.

Just what I was looking for

There seems to be a serious lack of expiration date apps that look clean and work smoothly, so Im glad I found this one in the end. No complaints.

Nope

Does not let you enter a date in the past. Forgot to enter that one milk you bought 2 days ago? Then this app will help you drink it 2 days after expiration. Yuck. Fail.

Fridgely

I cant find the scanner :(

So far thrilled

Finally an app that allows me to add spaces! Cant wait to see how it scans!!

Barcode scanner doesn’t work

Can’t get it to scan any barcodes. All it does is recognize that i have a product in front of the camera. It doesn’t tell me what the product is.

Where’s the scanner???

Nowhere to be found. Links for support only go to webpage asking you to be a beta tester. Very disappointed.

Useful, but...

When I go to the recipe section, it will pull up recipes, but if I click on one it doesnt show any information... I just get a blank screen

Pretty neat

Having used it more than once but works pretty well. Thought there was a barcode scan feature the last time I used it, but this still works. Wish there was a shopping list sync with reminders or something, or more reminder notifications. Missed the one day and its pretty much gone. Nice app though.

Is this app still supported by its developers?

Downloaded the app, started bringing in food items. The receipt scanner returns gibberish results, barcode scanner only finds 20% of items I have with a barcode. The recipes don’t load based on my inventory. (Example: I have eggs, avocado, everything but the bagel seasoning, tomatoes, sliced bread, cheese, spaghetti noodles, pasta sauce, Italian sausage) it did not suggest making pasta for dinner or avocado toast. The coupon section has nothing but dead links to the grocer’s websites. Very disappointing. No functionality.

awesome app

it’s an old app so updates are needed but it’s simple and perfect for me

Great concept; nothing works

CSV import? Doesn't work. Using the exported csv to re-uploaded added food? Doesn’t work. Receipt scanner? Doesn't work. Tedious manual entry? Yep. If you have a lot of time, this app works great. If you pay money and want the features to work, move along.

Make Fridgely great again

As a blessed mother of 7 I am appalled, Fridgely is not very useful. The shopping list tab is very disorganized, and does not allow simple editing, like rearranging the list items. I’ve been at Walmart for 3 hours before going back and forth to the frozen food section. I am currently writing this review from the ice cream aisle. I’m not even halfway done shopping, and there’s no end in sight. Please make shopping list more organized, and I will reinstall the app. Thank you!

Fridgely App - issue

Anyone know how to delete an item? There is no way to do it from what I can tell. Otherwise it’s a pretty good app.

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND

I love it !

Cannot add or invite person.

Tried using it for work and got premium but completely useless as app crashes when I try to send it to coworkers. Need my money back please.

Impressive

Such a well designed and helpful tool. No more losing track of what you have and either buying too much or not enough!! 🙏 Thank you for this wonderful app! 😊

Needs just one feature

It mostly does what it says on the tin, but it would be really helpful if this app had push notifications to remind you about upcoming expiry dates. As is you have to check it manually.

Great app

Just got this app and probably saved my life, I was about to drink a glass of milk that was from 1999!!! I scanned it because the packaging did not look right and it said it had expired on June 22, 1999! Awesome app that everyone needs!😀

Best free one far

Cannot delete missing items

Not working

Hasn’t been working after logging out and back in i lost everything.

My items are gone!

All of the sudden my items are gone. So frustrating.

Will not save items with exact expiration. Kicks you out of app.

Needs a lot of work. Premium options don’t work.

Awesome App!

Extremely good and accurate

Neat idea....

So neat idea, but if there is no database to pull barcodes from, no sane person is going to use this app. I can’t justify adding food items to an app like there contacts in my phone.

Could be improved, but still the best

Could definitely use some improvements, such as the ability to put “no expiration date” and a couple of others. Still, this app is the best one that I could find!

Seems like the app hasn’t been updated in a while...

The app serves it purpose for tracking food. It’s tedious to update manually. It would help to have the scan work without having to adjust information or add it in completely. The recipes section has been out of commission for a while. Hoping for an update soon otherwise I’m not sure I see the value in keeping the app. Perhaps the ability to effectively scan from receipts or really advanced scan option can increase app efficiency.

Glitches

Overall a great application. It does have some glitches that need worked out that make the process of adding things somewhat difficult at times but I’m hoping they’ll deal with that soon.

Keeps crashing

When I try to enter the product description manually, app freezes up and closes. Product description is not saved, and I’m using the premium version of the app.

Deleted my info!

After logging nearly 100 items complete with pictures and individual expiration dates, I opened the app again later that day to log more items and EVERYTHING WAS GONE. What a complete waste of time. No info was saved in my account except for my addition of a “Cupboard” category....that is now completely empty. 😡

Over all, okay for one person

If you are managing things in your fridge, and the only one linked to a space, it works great. When I added a second person to the account, everything loaded as expected. Person three loaded without any item data, just photos. Person 3’s edits show to the other two, but not back to theirs. There isn’t anywhere to go for tech support right now, so that is a little troublesome. Otherwise, very nice app. It’s guessed dates okay so far, nothing a little double checking can’t fix. Scanning a Receipt turned out a little weird, love the idea though. Being able to take photos is nice. Can’t add in new bar codes. Wish I had a way to split a “stack” of the same item for easy space transfer. Not for someone who isn’t willing to do a little work in maintaining their space. I’m keeping it, as I really enjoy it. With a few tweaks and some more updates it has potential to be an amazing app. But as it stands now, I would not recommended for the “quick fix” type people.

Helps keep track of food; that’s about it!

The services it has are decent, but many things could improve. There is no way to enter in dietary restrictions for the recipes section and often it will tell you that you have ingredients that you don’t. It would also be great if there could be recipe suggestions that were more diverse and addressed more of the ingredients you have.

Couldn’t even get started

Not optimized for iPad, screen stretching is meh First item I tried to add, didn’t recognize barcode, tried to manually add, item name kept resetting to blank. Guess I’ll try something else.

Impressive

Im impressed so far! I just have to remember to use it.

Internal server error 500

It’s not loading recipes at all

Useful but could use some basic features

I like this app. It does what I wanted it to do. It does seem to need a database update to recognize products. One HUGE feature would be to add my own barcodes for products in my local grocer. This flexibility would be far beyond useful and time saving. Also, it would be nice to prompt or ask for an expiration date when I transfer something from my shopping list. It is frustrating to transfer an item, then have to find it in the location and then add an expiration date. That is not efficient when I’m putting groceries away or otherwise don’t have all day to set expiration dates. The last feature I would love to see is the ability to move items from one location to another while maintaining the expiration date and reducing the number of items in the original location by the number moved. Example: I have 3 juices in the pantry. I’d like to be able to transfer 2 to the refrigerator, thus leaving my pantry list with 1 juice and my refrigerator list with 2 juices. Recreating the item is a pain and waste of time! I will gladly update my review should more useful features come along.

Not the least bit useful

I scanned something bought from a large, well-known market... and nothing. If I have to enter things manually, I’m better off doing a paper list.

Good enough app, can do with modifications

It’s a nice app for being able to catalog you’re kitchen how you want it and with what types of categories you want things in. The data can all be modified (name, expiration date...) and you can organize by name or expiration date. It also doubles as a shopping list. Downsides: the barcode scanner doesn’t work on small barcodes (think your small jars of spices) and their library isn’t that vast and sometimes doesn’t register common brands (like Pepsi or Kraft). The recipe generator also isn’t that great, so don’t rely on it to come up with a dinner idea for you.

Good Idea but wrong expiration dates

I scanned five items as a try few it guessed which were estimates not actual dates, but others were chocolates and bread which it gave total wrong or didn’t recognize the product name

Web app or Android app?

Receipt scanning is shockingly bad. I scan a list of twenty items and it returns just three lines of text, mostly gibberish. Also needs a web interface or Android app so that my Android-using wife and I can share a grocery list! Might this ever happen? If not, I need to keep looking.

Recipe issues

I really liked how easy it was to scan items in my pantry but when I went to find recipes after entering them, it keeps giving me an error message and says the url is too long.

Nope.

I would absolutely love this app if it did what it says. I have no idea how it has a 4 Star review. Every item I scanned was at least a month past its expiration date and some items were almost half a year or more? So strange. It scans fast and names what the item is but it doesn’t seem to have a rhyme or reason to doing the actual job I needed it to do which is keep track of expiration dates. 🤷🏼‍♀️ very disappointing.

Upgrading to Premium

After I was upgraded to premium, this works exactly as I needed it to! Outstanding!

Great product

I needed something to organize my food and keep me notified when food is about to expire. This app is great for that however when it comes to recipes there’s a bit of an issue. Ex) I put in heresies chocolate bar and recipients are coming up saying I have heresies chocolate syrup or chocolate milk. I guess in theory I do but I really don’t. Also I would say a large percentage of my great value Walmart food didn’t come up in the system (I was fine with entering it in manually) but the ingredients I entered in manually don’t translate well with the recipe option. Ex) manually entered in strawberry jam and it came up with things saying I had strawberries I would have liked a search option for manual entry so the recipes actually matched with what I had. Over all great app

Perfect

We keep a medium sized closet full of chips, snacks, and soft drinks for a flight department of 3 airplanes and this app has been perfect for our needs. Paid for the customizable version, but that was the best $2.99 I've ever spent. It makes me look like I'm on top of it, but really it's all due to this app.

The Holy Grail for Kitchen Inventory,

expire Dates and Shopping Lists and very helpful for emergency prepping This app does it all! I can’t believe it isn’t more widely known. My initial impressions: -Scanner - incredibly easy to use. It could scan most bar codes. The grocery receipt scanner is a must have!! So easy. It took me about 30 minutes to get most of the food in my fridge entered. I love being able to search what I have in my kitchen! - Expiration dates - some are Auto generated but for others it was super easy to put in date manually. - The interface is simple, smart, intuitive and quick! - Easy to change quantities of items - simple shopping list creation - love the recipe suggestions - now I’m off to do our Go-bags and emergency supplies!!! You can create any space you want to inventory. I bought the paid version just to support the developer. Thank you!!

Frustrating date tracking

For the past few months I have found this app to be a very useful tool in tracking dates in the small town Grocery I work in. It has saved hours of going through thousands of products each week checking dates. I have over a 1000 items logged with still half the store to catalog. However much I find this app useful it has one large drawback. Every time it updates it resets the updated dates on recently expired product. The most recent update cause me to have to renter over 150 item dates that it defaulted to old dates. If this one glitch could be over come it will continue to be an invaluable tool for our grocery store.

Not reliable

Can’t use the app anymore. For some reason, it keeps syncing my spaces every time I open the app and it’s reloading all my data. This has cost me a considerable amount of money because I get rid of most of my containers and store my dry goods in OXO containers. I need this app to track expiration dates since I don’t have the original packaging. Since the app has consistently gotten rid of my data, I’ve been forced to dump my products and get new ones. I’ll just track everything on paper.

Awesome Emergency inventory tracker!

Quick, intuitive, tracks expiration dates and let you create multiple spaces. Perfect for keeping track of all my earthquake kits stored at home, in the car, at school etc. I have created to premium so I can get alerts ahead of time so I can replenish my stock. This app has alleviated the intimidation of being responsible for our emergency kits. Good work!

Great! Except...

It would be amazing if we could search for and bookmark favorite recipes, even when we don't have any food.

Great Support

I rarely buy apps and I rarely write reviews, but I have to give it to this developer being top notch. After purchasing the app I still wasn't able to add new food with the correct expiration date. I buy a lot of expired food that's been frozen, at a big discount. The app wouldn't allow me to put in correct dates, which was a big problem for me. I sent the developer an email and he responded very promptly and said he'd add the feature. He went above and beyond and fixed the app that same day and allowed me to beta test it that night. As for the app, it's great. Let's me take pictures quickly and scans in bar codes. I can only assume it will get better, especially if the developer is so willing to listen to the consumers.

EXACTLY what I was looking for!!!!

I was looking for an app to help me keep inventory of things in my household (such as food, hair products, vape juices, etc). I'm not even kidding when I say I've downloaded about 15+ apps looking for the one most ideal for me and my needs. I LOVE this app because it's exactly what I needed! Not only did I want to be able to mark the quantity of the items I have, but I also wanted to be able to subtract from the quantity I've used so I'll know how much is left, and when it's time to restock. This app suits my needs! It's simple to use, easy to log items, allows you to group everything in a simplistic view, and even has the option to scan barcodes or take images of the items I have listed. I also love the feature that lets me move items to my shopping this! This app is perfect! THANKS A TON!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️😉♥️

Lost all my data

Spent over an hour logging my fridge contents then they disappeared

Great app!

Very nice. It will help me a lot.

Lost data

I entered 300 or so items over the course of an entire day. When I then created an account it automatically synced and I lost all the data. I won't make that mistake again. It also does not notify you if you scan a duplicate bar code so you could have six of the same thing. It would be way better if it pulled up your older scans then you could just add or delete whatever you are adding or using up. Won't use this app again.

Notifications don't work

The whole point of this app is it will let you know when food is about to go bad, but the notifications don't work. That makes it completely useless.

Don't Bother

I just downloaded this app 10 minutes ago and will be deleting it. I tested several items via the barcode function and it got EVERY SINGLE ONE wrong.

Great app but bugs exist

I love this app because it helps me not waste any food by letting me know when certain food is expiring. But lately I have noticed some bugs. First big is if you save an item to a space but then go back and change it to another space, the image associated with it disappears. Second bug exists when viewing your list of food in a space, completely randomly all but a couple food images disappeared. The third bug happened when I connected Facebook with fridgely, all of the sudden all my spaces disappeared and all my time logging my items became a waste. The app basically reseted and I lost all my work. I'm really bummed that happened because I had at least 70 items listed with their expiration dates and photos of each one spread amongst four different spaces. Oh and the submit feedback button in the app doesn't work either.
